The first one got some great one liners, and I must say I'm impressed. Impress me with a new one this week the most, and I'll write a short caption for you using the image!

Kaitlyn's Weekly One Sentence Challenge WINNER #1
So many good stabs at this one. They all just kind of popped! I thoroughly enjoyed Caitlyn-Masked's reference to the Matrix (at least I think that what that was), and Madcap McGee (Maddie) was really close with her use of the word 'deflated' (tho the term 'reversal gas' could only make me think of an inverted fart... Sorry!). This week's KWOSC Winner is Dementia of Deelusions of Grandeur. Thanks to everyone who participated! I'm still new in the blogging world, so help me get better known and tell people about me!
Dee gets a limmerick using the image! I've always loved these playful Irish poems, and it just goes to show you don't have to wait until March to use them!

Unknown Persons
Here's a caption I made back in 2010 for Bren on the Haven. I believe it was the summer, and a show entitled Persons Unknown had just come on for a summer series. The premise, for those who don't recall, was about these people who all woke up in a hotel in separate rooms, not knowing how they got there or why they had been taken, but they were all under surveillance as part of a social experiment. I thought about what it would be like if there were an similar experiment with a body-swap layer involved, which also led to a role-play on the haven for a time.
Discussion - Does media inspire caption ideas? And more specifically, how?

Enjoying Every Experience
I am going to try to keep posting one caption a day. Often times I will have a unique thing to talk about. But other times... Here's a caption! Feel free to discuss the themes or just the cap in general.

The Disney Classic
Just a discussion question today... What is it with a TG's attraction to the classic Disney Princess? They come in many shapes and forms, but at some point they all end up in a ball gown (except Mulan, who wore a Kimono and Pocahantes, but she had other things going for her). So why is a princess so attractive to TG fantasy?

Lost Lenore
Since I consider myself a writer, I do as all great writers have done before me. I steal from others. Does that mean I'm being lazy? No, I don't believe so. In fact, when someone wants to use or mimic your writing style, I think you should feel honored (unless they say it was all their idea).
I think borrowing a writing style and then morphing it to become your own is a great writing practice to begin with. Believe it or not, borrowing from Poe for one verse took longer for me to write than a regular caption, but I wanted that eerie effect that is often associated with his writing to come out in this caption. What do you think?

That Face
Here's a fun recaption I did as part of an offer I currently have going on the Haven. For this promotion, I've offered a great many number of photos for other artists to caption for me, and I'll use that same photo and write a new story for them--this has become a popular idea amongst those of us who love seeing things in different ways.
However, I'm not going to dwell on that too much. What I want to talk about is the importance of facial expression one chooses for a caption. When I set out to post photos for other havenettes to caption, I had to make sure that each one's face told a story. Whether that story be funny or painful or heart-warming, it had to say more than "sex." Sure, sex sells, but so do well-written stories.
So I put it to you: How important are facial expressions in a TG caption?

Shifting Your Perspective
I always seem to find big breaks from caption writing. And while at times they are necessary due to real life happenings, more often it's writer's block. Okay, well I could honestly write for a while. I think the real issue here is boredom with telling essentially the same story outline for captions:
In an earlier post, I mentioned the use of pre-established universes in captions and their role to us as caption artists. One of my favorite universes to caption in has been the great shift--the paranormal event that causes most of the people in the world to switch bodies with someone else. While this universe offers a lot of things to play with, the story eventually becomes the same. Additionally, the reality of a great shift caption would be horrific, and turns many people off from the captions.
In today's caption, I tried something different. This is a piece I made for Dementia back at the Haven, and it began as a Great Shift caption, but I eventually morphed it into a brand new universe. I didn't explain the new universe--in fact I'm saving it later and working on a TG fiction story for it--but it made this caption work. This also seemed to be a favorite on the Haven of how a sentimental caption could work in lieu of being silly or saucy.

Kaitlyn's Weekly One Sentence Challenge #1
So I was about to post my regular caption update for the day when I got a fantabulous idea! I have always prided myself in brevity when it comes to captions. After all, a caption is just a snapshot providing an explanation for the image, right? Below you'll see a photo with no caption. Here's where you come in: In the comments section, write a ONE SENTENCE caption for the photo. My favorite caption by Friday will get that photo captioned by me, for them, posted right here on the blog! How you like them apples! This is the first one, and I know I don't have a lot of followers yet, but I have a good feeling about this one. Your photo this week:

Pop Culture
I think keeping an eye on things going on pop culture can be a powerful aide in caption story-telling. Paying attention to those kinds of things can create a hefty arsenal. I think it brings a realness to the caption--a relation to our world.
What do you think? Does pop culture have a place in TG captions? How would you use it to your advantage? Is this something you would like to see more or less of?
Cheap Shots
I love sticking puns anywhere I can. I'm generally light hearted and believe people need to laugh, even if the laugh is more of a groan. Here's one from my 2011 collection which simply does just that.

Changed Layout
So many responses were not in favor of the dynamic layout. So listening to my audience, I have changed it back the a more familiar layout. Perhaps when some more options are available in the dynamic view, I'll give it another try. Hopefully the classic blog style will work better.
Oh, and here's a cap.

The Man Upstairs
Here's a favorite from my captioning past. I love using pre-determined transformation universes as a good background for my captions. However, rather than explain the universe within the caption, I write under the assumption that the transformation method is understood and the situation takes front.
So here's the question -- Do you like captions that make use of pre-determined TF universes (Such as Medallion of Zulo or Spells 'R' Us), or would you rather see something more original?
Feel free to discuss the question or the caption!
Smokin Hot Identity
I'm always up for a good period piece. This cap was done for Gwendolen over on Rachel's Haven, and I really liked the way the story played out. It's a dark story, but I feel the mystery gives it a sexy twist. With this one, I wanted to begin showing a range of writing styles.
Discussion Question: How important is keeping the transformee's identity? I feel that over time, a change in gender would result in a new persona, but that doesn't necessarily mean they forgot who they used to be. I suppose it's nature verses nurture of sorts.

Captions should bring a smile!
Some photographs just beg to be captioned. Often times in captioning, artists try to use photos to show the glamorous side of women. Having to wear make-up, dealing with breasts and longer hair, and so on. I like breaking that norm. I also like having fun with the transformation. The above caption is from a recent trade offer I did with Dementia from Rachel's Haven (check out her version of this picture over at her caption blog).
What do you think? Does humor have a place in captioning, or does it ruin the mood?

Welcome to Kaity's Caption Blog!
Welcome to Kaity's Fantabulous Captions! It's Kaitlyn from Rachel's Haven, and I guess I'm following in the footsteps of some other Havenette bloggers. Here I'll post some of the captions & stories I create of a TG fantasy nature and topics for discussion. I love word play and silliness, but I also have a dark side, so you'll see the full range here at KFC. Also, have patience as I figure things out. More to come soon!

Search terms.
So, according to the traffic stats, two people came here looking for "přání k narozeninám", which google tells me is Czech for "Birthday cards". Czechoslavakian birthday parties must be pretty fucked up...

The Depopulation Event - Advert
While some countries took a more authoritarian approach to dealing with the rapid decline in the female birth rate, others tried to recruit volunteers. Here's one ad campaign aimed at encouraging young men to sign up for feminisation.

Letter Home
I'm trying to make some of my caps a little prettier than my usual plain-white-plus-verdana format. Some of them will still be quick-and-simple though. What do you think?
